    • Our design is our own custom one, I would not encourage copying it exactly since it is our own unique design. Better to do something unique of your own. As for color, you should do whatever you love best. Kitchens of all colors can be beautiful.

    I LOVE your beautiful home….and your cats!! I wondered if you wouldn’t mind sharing your method of cleaning your countertops. I have white quartz as well and can’t figure out the best way to clean it. I have read and read and bought all kinds of things and my quartz always looks a little uneven when the light hits it and you should really just see a smooth shine. I know this is a weird analogy….but it reminds me of when I have dry skin and I apply lotion in a circular pattern and some areas soak in better than others. Also it streaks so easily and everything shows up on the white quartz – even fingerprints! I love how awesome it looks in my kitchen, but am worried I should have gone with some of the white quartz with veining or patterns.

    • Hi 🙂 I actually just use water. We’ve never used any products at all on it. I’m personally not a big fan of cleaning products and solutions. Occasionally I add a drop of soap but that’s it. RO (filtered water) is the best for leaving it streak-free because it’s as close to literal H-2-O as you can get so it’s not likely to leave any spotting.

  20. Hi! Your design for the cabinets is lovely! I’m interested in how you enjoy using the taller upper cabinets you designed. How do they feel opening/closing on a daily basis? Do they feel heavy at all and if you would chose to do the same height if you had to do over again? Thanks and thanks for being so thorough on all the sources~ amazing!

    • Hi 🙂 I wouldn’t change anything about my design for my own home, but I think ultimately all these decisions come down to personal preference (and also the actual materials used as well as how the cabinets are made).

  21. In love with your style. Question, how is the Evoke Lional flooring holding up? I have 3 boys that will come inside with wet feet and 1 dog with one on its way:) I want to make sure the Laminate Quality of Evoke will hold up. Thanks so much!

    • It’s same as the day it was installed – but I also don’t think it’s available anymore. 🙁

      Also, that said – laminate is not intended to be used places that specifically get wet. We always cleaned our dog’s paws off at the door. If you don’t do the same, I’m not sure laminate is the best option for you since it’s water resistant, not waterproof.

    Love your house, we are searching for led wafer lights to install throughout the house like yours. Are you happy with ones you chose? Couldn’t find it in your sources. We also have 10’ ceilings and are struggling picking 4”,5”, or 6”. Thanks for your help!

    • Ours are 4″ but I don’t have their exact source because we picked them forever ago way before I started documenting things so specifically for our website and honestly I just don’t feel like getting up on a ladder to uninstall one to find the brand name lol

  25. Hi there, your home is lovely! Do you know what the distance is from the ceiling to the top of your cabinet doors is? I know it is not a soffit, but wondering the size of the wood over the cabinets that the crown molding is attached to. Love the cats! I have only one, he is black and white. 🙂

    • Hi – our cabinetry is all custom paneling so it’s not a standard size and I’m sorry but I don’t give out exact dimensions. That panel was created to go around our ducting so it’s whatever size we needed for our particular situation. 🙂

  28. Hi! Beautiful design! I have a client who LOVES your house, especially the colors and finishes. I read all your source posts and found the paint colors you used. However, I can’t get a clear idea on what color your cabinets are. I realize they were a custom job; can you at least tell me if they are off-white or bright white or how they compare to the BM Simply White? Thanks!

  30. How have your cabinet pulls held up to everydayuse? They are beautiful and price wise are amazingly less expensive than some of the more known popular brands. Curious how durable they are. There is no information pertaining to a warranty on that brand that I can find.

    My wife and I have been following house for some time now and we both love everything about the house.

    We have been looking at the purchasing the island black pendant lights you have from rejuvenation, however I was hoping you could provide some input before we purchased since the lights are customizable/non returnable.

    What is the height of your ceiling in the kitchen? Or how long is the light cord on the pendant lights? We only have 8 ft ceilings and we are concerned that pendant light cord on what size cord we should order and that it may look weird if the cord is only 10-12 inches long.

    If possible, any feedback on the rejuvenation pendant light that you could provide would be greatly appreciated. I spoke to design expert at rejuvenation but they really were not too much help so I thought I would ask you to get an opinion

    • Hi – We have 10-ft ceilings in the kitchen but I honestly don’t remember how long the cord was in our order and I don’t see reference to it in my files. As for where we hung them, I literally eyeballed the height from across the room until I was happy with the look. I’m not in my kitchen as I type this but I’d loosely guess we have about 30″ of cord visible (ish).

      If you’re worried about the proportion of cord length to pendent size to ceiling height, another option is that our same light comes in a smaller size (here is the direct link to it: 18″ butte) and using a smaller light may give you the possibility of a longer cord since the light itself takes up less space. That said, I have seen people put our same size lights on lower ceilings and it looks great so it’s really personal preference.

    • It’s really personal preference. The decision depends on many, many factors. I may do a dedicated blog post on this topic in the future, but ultimately there’s no right/wrong answer, it’s about finding the best option for your situation. 🙂

  35. Hello, I love your kitchen. We are currently doing a remodel. I cannot tell by the picture what color the wood tile is for the backsplash. Is it more of a grey or wood color?

    • Hi 🙂 It’s tile but looks exactly like weathered wood so it has both grays and browns in it.
      My pictures are not filtered so the colors are true to reality.

  37. Can you tell me about your triple waste drawer? I’ve been looking for one for our remodel to hold trash, recycle and compost but have not been able to find one! Was it entirely custom? Could you share a pic and/or share the size bins/dimensions?

      • Hey! I love your home and had the same question – the link to the fridge just goes to the general Frigidaire page – are you able to specify the size of each? What is it called when there is a full standing fridge and full standing freezer? I can’t seem to figure out which they are but it’s the exact look we’re looking for. Thank you!

        • As mentioned in the post, I don’t link to specific appliances because they’re not always still available. To my knowledge (last I checked at least), our exact fridge is no longer made so I’ve left the general link to the brand in case it comes back into production or if maybe there is still stock available, or alternatively for people to find other similar but available options from the same maker. 🙂

  39. What a beautiful house you’ve made! I’ve modeled a lot from your place to my new home. I’m having a hard time keeping my walls clean though, its flat whitish color by SW called GreekVilla. And I feel like we made a mistake with flat plaint. How do you clean your walls if need be? Anytime, I clean off a scuff mark there is usually a stain left from ‘cleaning’ itself even if it’s just water. Pls advise🙏

    • Our flat walls wipe down with water without leaving marks. I’ll note that I don’t generally use SW paint so I don’t have much experience with it. However, if you have smooth walls like us, a trick if you have a spot you can’t get clean is to wait til it’s dry then very lightly sand it with 320 or 150 sandpaper. Another factor is the grade of paint – even within sheens, there are different grades. My advice when choosing any paint grade/color/sheen is to always get a small sample bottle and test it out to see how you like it.

  41. Hi, I just bought the faucet you recommend here. However, I am not sure how far the Pull-Down or Pull-Out option allows. The one clearly marked with Pull-Out on Amazon seems to not be allowed to ship in CA.

    did you get the regular one? and if so, how far does it extend when pulled out. I would like to use it to rinse the sink closely and easily.
    Any suggestions?

    • Hi, I’m not sure which faucet you’re referring to? Our main faucet (that pulls down) is not linked to Amazon at all, and our drinking water faucet that is available on Amazon is not pull-down. Our kitchen faucet does pull down enough for us to clean the sink though.

      Also, I don’t control vendor shipping options unfortunately, sorry. I can only provide links to what we have used.

  44. Hi! Beautiful home!!! We are remodeling our main floor in the spring and I want a shiplap ceiling!!
    1-Did you use MDF or wood shiplap for ceiling?
    2- I read your post for shiplap tutorial and you recommend to put caulking in the seems to have the feel of a continuing board… love this!! but does the seems show?
    3- I am doing shiplap ceilings in kitchen/dinning, living room and hallway, would you recommend vertical or horizontal?
    4. Also what paint colour did you ise for ceiling shilap and what finish?
